Do SEO specialists perform all the tasks mentioned above? The answer depends on the company they work for.
My typical workday is busy with many roles, but I have a high income in return. Do you want to work as an SEO specialist? Read my daily routine and determine whether you can handle this workload!
1. Checking Website Performance
My workday often starts with checking website performance. This task involves analyzing the keyword position to see the changes in SEO.
As an SEO specialist, I know that the results take time. It takes days or months to see the differences with updates, Google algorithms, or user dynamics.
Therefore, I must check the website’s performance daily to detect how a web page I promote works. I inspect every keyword for search volume dynamics and competitiveness.
In addition, I study where the traffic mostly comes from to know what type of web pages or landing pages draw attention and get the most effective results.
From my experience, the landing page that has the best-performing content and keywords may turn into a template or sample.

2. Keyword Research
As an experienced SEO specialist, I must say that conducting keyword research is among the essential types of SEO tasks.
Why? The answer is that although Google’s algorithm changes daily, every search begins with a question with a keyword.
Therefore, SEO specialists must look for keywords and determine their relevance, search volume, and competitiveness to the questions. Keyword research aims to ensure specialists have selected the best options to target.
I often use tools like Google Keyword Planner and Google Search Console when researching keywords and analyzing them to create more precise results.
3. Content Analysis and Optimization
Besides keyword research, my role as an SEO specialist includes analyzing and optimizing content for my company’s website.
I often perform both off-page and on-page adjustments for content analysis and optimization, ensuring my company website has the following:
- High-quality and relevant content
- Quality metadata
- Quick loading speed
- The use of the right keywords
- Correct internal links
- Perfect code structure
During the on-page optimization process, I try various code changes, keyword matches, and strategies to improve the above elements and increase the ranking.
For the off-page optimization process, I primarily focus on getting good inbound links by carefully planning and executing outreach campaigns.

4. Link-Building
Do you know that link building can enrich content by using internal and external links to bring value to search engines and readers?
Link-building is crucial to every SEO success. It’s also a part of my daily routine. So, I find link-building ideas and track old links to design and develop top-notch strategies. It ensures my company’s website has a strong backlink profile.
5. Technical Audits
Sometimes, I find crawl errors, load time issues, or HTTPS status codes during analysis. After analyzing content from the website, I perform technical audits to fix the problems that may affect website performance and ranking.
I also work with my team members to address indexation problems, especially 404 errors. The errors negatively impact the website’s SEO performance without immediate improvement and fixing.

6. Monitoring and Reporting
A part of my workday is monitoring and reporting. What does it mean? I monitor the SEO metrics, website traffic, and performance to track my progress.
To make the monitoring process more accessible, I must understand analytics tools like Google Search Console or Google Analytics. These tools will provide more information on user behavior, search engine rankings, and website traffic.
In addition, all SEO specialists should know backlink analysis tools, such as Moz and Ahrefs.
After analyzing and fixing problems, I often create a detailed report and present it clearly to my boss or teammates. That way, we can discuss the progress of SEO campaigns.
7. Catching Up With Google Updates
SEO specialists may fail in digital marketing without daily learning, even when they have SEO skills.
Therefore, I always stay updated with all algorithm changes and my company’s competitors. So I can continuously improve my productivity and work results.
How can I achieve that goal? I usually read articles, research with digital tools, attend conferences and webinars, and join forums related to SEO. These activities after work help me enrich my knowledge.

8. Collaboration and Communication
As an SEO specialist, I collaborate with other experts and clients besides working independently.
Not all my clients have technical knowledge about SEO. Therefore, I must have strong communication and collaboration skills to express my opinions and explain complex ideas to my clients.
In addition, I must create materials relevant to my company website’s visitors. Hence, I must possess good communication skills to be more competitive.
